Summer

This is my middle son, David.  He is the light of my world (as all my kids are) and the reason we decided that next year we would home school our kids.

At six years old he ought to be eating up knowledge, lapping the edges of the world with hunger and joy, but a certain system already started to put out his natural lust for learning.  Little kids should not HATE school...not when they are six years old.

So summer begins and we are going to conquer this world together.

What a cutie!

Good luck with the home-schooling thing.  It's not for the faint of heart...

He is adorable.  And y'all are to me, full of courage, to take on the task of home schooling.  My niece has home schooled her son for nine years now -- not always easy but well worth her efforts!  Good luck to all of you!  :)

I admire you taking that on.  I'm having issues with my son and school too however it's more social than academic.  We're also looking at options.  Isn't it a shame that school can such a negative experience for a child?

BTW...SO glad you've joined us here.

Kudos to you for doing it.  If I had it to do over with my four...and I'm not just speaking as a mom.  I spent five years working as a clinician in child psychiatry at Children's Medical Center in Dallas, seeing the sickest of kids...most of whom improved immeasurably during summer, when school was not in session.  Yep, school exacerbated these kids mental illness...I could go on and on, but I won't.
